Monday, 20th April

I have been checking and marking your essays. Most of you have chosen the one about coronavirus. I guess why!!

On Wednesday I´ll give you your marks, so that everybody will know exactly where the grade comes from. I will talk about that in the "Teleformación" folder and then I will share your reports in your personal folders.
I will also share a code to activate your digital book (English in Use 4).

Anyway, today we are going to start a new unit: Be healthy! (How ironic in this day and age!!)
Now, let's get down to it!!
-Open your student's book on page 90:
1. Read exercise 1 and write a list of vocabulary (words in blue). Write the translation, as well.
2. Did any of the facts surprise you? (Write them down).
    Find on the internet any other weird fact about our body that might be interesting or amazing.
3. Complete exercises 2 and 3
4. Read the Word Power Box . Answer the question: What does the idiom "She is up to her neck" mean?
5. Click on the link underneath and learn some more idioms connected to parts of the body.
-Print the document or copy the exercise in your notebook.

A. Write an opinion essay on the following topic:
-Our lifestyle in a global world (globalization) is destroying our nature and cultural diversity.

B. Write an opinion essay on the following topic: 
-Do you think coronavirus will change our lifestyle in this globalized world? How may this affect the environment?

C.  Write a magazine article: (add a photograph if you want)
-After a recent trip to a remote area of a developing country, you became aware of the need to change the way we travel (and live). Write about:
      -Why you decided to go on this trip. What eco-tourism is.
      -What experiences you had on this trip (that made you more environmentally conscious): what you saw in terms of poverty, the lifestyle local people had and their               relationship with their environment. Compare that lifestyle to ours.
      -Do not forget to write an introduction and a final reflection on this issue. Try to be persuasive and convince readers to change, too.

REMEMBER:
-Use different paragraphs (introduction, body conclusion)
-Use connectors we have already learnt (avoid "and, but, because")
-Also try to use vocabulary from this unit and the text you read yesterday.
-Finally, use formal language and varied grammar learnt along the course: relatives, conditionals, passive, reported speech, different verb tenses...
